Death Note A real nice mysterious movie. Went for a trip to PS to watch with Zhengxun and Eugene, Yongxiong joined us for dinner. Getting less and less people every week, think next time nobody will bother to come out anymore..![]() L vs Kira... The human whose name is written in this note shall die... A Death God, Ruyk, whose purposely drop his death note to the human world. Light, a genius, picked it up. As a elite law student in university, he believe law can justify everything until he hack into the computer system of the police force. To uphold the justice of this world, he decided to use the ultimate tool, the death note in the name of Kira. "The human whose name is written in this note shall die..." as it is written in the first page of the death note. Everything was perfect until L appears. L vs Kira.. and another character, Misa, comes into the game with another death note... the story continues... Personally, I feel this movie is awesome! A movie which I feel worth the price for a weekend ticket(although I only need to pay $8 for weekend nowadays due to some reason. ha). It is those mysterious type of movie, like Kindaichi which show on tv during my sec sch which I never miss a series before. With both L and Light, 2 intelligent people, it really create a mystery on who will be the last winner.. Excited to wait for the next movie, the Part 2 of Death Note, The Last Name... The trailer for the Last Name. The End, Edwin Tan 12:14 AM Thursday, October 26, 2006
God Will Make A Way Was feeling damn stress just now, and saw my old Bible on my study desk, so decide to flip to a page and see."Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer." Psalm 4:1 This is how I really feel at that moment, Marvin told me is a sign... A sign that God is beside me always, and asking me to praise him. A sign that maybe is time for me to have a religion? not just a religion, this is a relationship with God, to help me grow spiritually... And so surprise, after I pray to God, and listen to the christian songs, I really feel more relax. I thought I can't make it le but in the end I solved my java Coding! God really show me a way! This is thy strength that I needed the most at this moment of my life, my most stressful times I ever been at... God Will Make a Way God will make a way, Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me. He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side With love and strength for each new day He will make a way, He will make a way. By a roadway in the wilderness, He'll lead me And rivers in the desert will I see Heaven and earth will fade But His Word will still remain He will do something new today. God will make a way, Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me. He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side With love and strength for each new day He will make a way, He will make a way The End, Edwin Tan 3:14 AM Monday, October 23, 2006
Jog for 2 days in a row.. Recently I am feeling weak, so I thought it is a good idea to jog around NUS with Jialong and Caleb today, once again after the jog at MacRitchie yesterday. We decided to take a different route halfway, in the end, we ran outside of NUS. I was damn shocked when I saw West Coast Road and Haw Par Villa!!! What the Hell! We ran so far le.. but no choice, we were in the middle of no where, confirm have to run back. Luckily we are trained in army, know how to navigate our way back. Timing: 37.13min. We ran for around 8km. I was damn shag when I reach the end point, maybe because I ran yesterday, or maybe it have been so long since I ran so far, or maybe since after army, I did not run everyday just like in camp. but, Good Run!p.s. In the end, Jialong was late for the Treasurer meeting because of the run. haha. The End, Edwin Tan 9:51 PM Sunday, October 22, 2006
5km Run at MacRitchie 5km at MacRichie, been a while since I ran such a long distance. Still able to finish at the timing of 24.19min, I feel it is not my best, because I don't feel tired at all after the run, hope next time can improve. So bored after the run, so we went on to take some funny photos. ha.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The End, Edwin Tan 10:12 PM Saturday, October 21, 2006
Church Wedding & Vivocity 1. 2pm - 4pm : Church WeddingWent for Tavence Wedding at Fairfield Methodist Church(Yes! the church which I used to attend). In fact, this is the first church wedding I ever attend. Feeling good to sing the church songs which I used to sing, the devotion to God and the prayers to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirits. But most importantly, it is kinda of great to see my ex-Boys Brigade captain entering another path of his life. Congrats! The church, the band, the people ![]() ![]() The lovely Couple, Man and Wife ![]() ![]() Group Photo at Church ![]() Funny Shots in Weishen's van ![]() ![]() 2. 4pm - 9pm : Vivocity Rush down to Vivocity to meet my Poly Bros. In fact, when i first step in, it gives me the feeling of a look-alike shopping centre in Malaysia(Forgot its name). It is really HUGE and really beautiful. Had dinner at Carl's Junior, once again, I can't finish my food because I just ate at the church at 3+. Bought a new Tee and best of all, it only cost $11.20! Feeling Great! Been long since I shop last time, actually wanna shop long ago, but no $$$. Walked for quite long, and actually haven't explore finish yet, and some of the shops are not open yet. The grand opening of Vivocity will be on 1st Dec, so prehaps have to wait till that day to see the real beautiful Vivocity. Jay Chou - Tui Hou [Retreat] Get this from Marvin's Blog.. Actually this is my favourite song from his new album. The mv is awesome! Hebe is so cute but Jay looks kinda of weird as a typical taiwan ah beng.Like the last phrase he said before the mv end.. "I've changed, but it's too late".. haiz.. It is so true.. so do the best that you can in your life, before you really regret on it... From now on, I will do the best as I can. I'm not going to regret again! Not Again! Been quite long since I went to swim and suntan.. Think gonna go for a tanned this weekend, if not, soon will be looking like a agua.. The End, Edwin Tan 9:10 PM Saturday, October 14, 2006
Our very 1st Netball Outing A long long meeting, torturing my little sick stomach. Lucky we had our filling meal at fish and co glass house with seafood platter. Delicious. A little game after that which I didnt touch for years - pool. Not that bad, still managed to poke in some balls. Personally, I feel the outing is kinda of short, can't really bond the committee together yet, and it not totally bonded yet. Perhaps we need some more interactive activities.... ![]() ![]() The End, Edwin Tan 11:55 PM
My Little Journey of Transforming from NSF to Undergraduate Perhaps the most sultable words to describe my 22 years of my life is from caterpillar to butterfly, from ugly duckling to swan, from bud to blossom. and most importantly, from boy to man. There are many different views from people of how National Service changes the life of a Singaporean male. Two years of running around in with the most durable set of clothing any of us will ever wear, and under the effects of the 'Z-monster Disease' (the urge to fall asleep instantly when you put on your no.4), not forgeting the 'bang bang!' and 'you die you die!' while running around with Singapore-made plastic guns like little children and not feeling ridiculous. ![]() Me? I like to think that no matter the consequence, at least I can look back at my time in the army and smile at the times I've had lived in a little compound just on the side of Changi. Look back and remember the times when we were recruits, crawling around in urine soaked mud or having everything in our cupboards emptied out into a bag and high kneeling with that bag over our heads. An instant from the cold, wet and miserable times in Brunei. The never-ending feeling of 72 km route march. The pure torture of 5 km SOC. And, the 2IC who always like to torture us with power run and 3km run training. But it is all worth it when I was standing proud in front of my parents, grandparents and other audiences, receiving my Red Beret and Stiletto knife. ![]() Time flies. It crawls by like a snail when you're NSF, but when you look back it seems like it was just yesterday. The receiving of my pink IC marks another new dimension of my life. School, the one thing that has been a constant in my life for the past 22 years suddenly seems like a completely "stranger" to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Army is starting to look better and better after all those tough training. What I am saying is that it's going to take a while for a fresh undergraduate like me to get completely used to the idea that every situation I encounters, every action I takes to overcome that situation, is a direct consequence of my very own decisions. No more just blindly following orders. No more 'aiya, OC/CSM say what, we just do what. mai kao bei kao bu'. No more simply ending up in the guard room on a Saturday night just because I screwed up by kena extra. ![]() I suppose another thing that's constantly on my mind is how the hell I'm going to survive after no more receiving of my monthly pay. Sure, the army pay isn't exactly that great. At my pay of $720 per month, that works out to $24 a day, $1 per hour. But, that's not peanuts. It's $1 an hour to spend most of my time sleeping, swimming, sun-tanning, running, watching TV and eating those free meals from SFI. Most importantly, you don't even need to care about fashion sense, when you're wearing your no.4 or the admin brown tee everyday. My mum and dad have promised me of $200 bucks per month, with meals and transport included. Well, I suppose I could prefer to always carry my mess tin and a couple of packets of instant noodles around in my bag like what I did in Army. After all I have become somewhat dependent with instant noodles when I was hungry. Or even the bak chor mee, nasi lemak and dessert from the Changi Village auntie, and the MacDonald which deliver to the doorstep of my hendon guard room. 'Get a job la!' That's what my friends always said to me. If it were that easy, I would stop hearing about the financial problem from every university student I meet. These days, more and more people are taking up all sorts of exercise programs and getting more health conscious because of one simple reason. In the real world (meaning outside of the army), you get fat and weak. The state of having far too much time on your hands, and way too many makan session of unhealthy foods. So here I am at the crossroad of transforming from a NSF to undergraduate, it's not that easy as I thought, but it is who that I am going to be for the rest of my life. Therefore, I believe it is really time for me to change my attitude and of course, get back my fashion sense. ![]() The End, Edwin Tan 12:25 AM Friday, October 13, 2006
Botak Jones Singing session at KTV with weishen and marvin.. so surprise that weishen asked us to go singing, he changed. haha..Went to Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 there to have a dinner at Botak Jones after hearing a lot of recommendation of it. Guess what!? The queue is endless and we had to WAIT 1 hour for the food! The food is alrite la.. but very filling... eat till i cannot finish everything.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The End, Edwin Tan 11:04 PM Sunday, October 08, 2006
Is me myself? can't believe I been so hardworking recently. didnt go out this weekend because of study. haha.. but come to think of it, it is only a test?! 20% only lei... impossible manz. this is not me! Where is the me that still go out even thou there is a test. Nowaday didnt really follow my famous motto.. "play hard! study smart!".. or maybe is that varsity workload is too much to handle? The End, Edwin Tan 6:39 PM Thursday, October 05, 2006
Mid Autumn Celebrate with NUS Netball Recre This is the first activity which the committee planned. Not too bad la.. got lantern, got drink, got mooncake. Still ok for such a short notice planning. But of course, there is still room to improve. Took a really nice group photo for the NUS Netball Recre, a pity that some cant attend due to tests and projects.![]() The End, Edwin Tan 11:37 PM Sunday, October 01, 2006
The last 2nd Birthday Boy for 24s Interview people is kinda of tiring. You got to repeat almost the same speech and question for over a few times. kinda of boring. After that, still have a long meeting which make me hungry till I had no strength to talk. Maybe I have been civilian for too long, forget about how I control my hunger in field when I was doing my National Service.Just nice the meeting end at 3.40pm, just in time to go and meet Zhengxun at 4pm at Holland Village. Happy Birthday to him! yea! Went to PS for a dinner with the rest of the guys. Had fun eating and chatting and taking photos at the same time. Been very long since we took those funny and candid photos, which is fun, just loves taking photos. It not only contains the laughter but also lots of memories when you are browse through the photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() Had a show of Rob-b-hood. Personally find that show quite funny, and kinda of meaningful, and the baby is cute too. At least the movie makes my day better with lotsa laughter. Kinda of miss those days when walking down orchard. Nowaday always went in the evening, don't really have chance to walk around, really hope someday we can go town in noon, so had more time to walk down. but who is the "we"?
